Rare PARKER 85 Ballpoint Pen, Made in France, Not Sold in Japan

The "Parker 85," the successor to the "Parker 75," is a rare series developed at the Meru factory in France and sold for only three years, from 1979 to 1982 (not sold in Japan).
The Parker 85 is particularly rare in the United States and is highly sought after by collectors, trading for 60,000 to 70,000 yen.

In late 1978, Parker France launched the Parker 85, a new luxury pen based on the Parker 75. While the nib section was similar, the grip section was smooth and lacked the ribbed features of the Parker 75.
However, the most distinctive feature was the new clip. The clip was rectangular with rounded tips, engraved with a stylized version of the Parker arrow, and secured with a flat metal clip screw.
The cap also bears the Parker France imprint.
This is a very unusual clip, and many Parker collectors may not even be aware of it.
This model was offered as a fountain pen and a ballpoint pen, with only four finishes available.

The predecessor, "Parker 75," gained momentum, and many pens with a new and innovative feel were manufactured. Against this backdrop, the "Parker 85" appeared as a model with a completely new motif, incorporating a European, or rather, a French artistic new sense. Therefore, you can feel a different atmosphere from the usual Parker pens.

The actual successor was the currently available "SONNET," and the shape of its section is very similar to that of the "Parker 85," suggesting that this series was a development product for the next generation. Due to the small number of sales worldwide, it is highly rare, and since it was not sold in Japan, you will find very little information about it even if you search.

The refill uses the standard Parker type.
There are minor scratches, but it is relatively clean.
